EmpireVerse (v1): Chain of Diamonds

I've probably missed countless opportunities to offer up some EmpireVerse over the years.

My Sonofa Gov, Andrew Cuomo, has long been willing to babble and pontificate and expound upon any and all topics, without a whole lot of restraint.

There was the time he said there was no room in NY for extreme conservatives, and the time he told us he sleeps just fine because he knows he's going to do the right thing.

And the time he famously said America was never that great... that was a good one, too.

Those opportunities are behind us, though, so I'm starting fresh with this one section of his 2021 State of the State address. Taken from his closing argument, if you will, it speaks to the pressures New York faced in 2020 and how we'll handle whatever 2021 has in store.

A Chain of Diamonds
But pressure also forges
strength and that's
how diamonds are formed.

In 2020 when things
were at their worst
we saw New Yorkers
at their best.

The pressure was on and
we all saw New Yorkers
under pressure
become diamonds.
And they worked
together

they linked arms.
New Yorkers were
a magnificent chain
of diamonds,

different sizes,
different colors,
different shapes,
different orientations,
but the chain
connected all.

And the chain
is strong, my friends.
It will
unite.
It will
forge community.
It will
combine our strength.

We
have
done it
before
and
we will
do it

again.
